How about flipping it over and installing it from above with ring pins through the scupper hole pipe below the yak to keep in place?

@fishbait: LOL, I hadn't thought about drag!!! :o well, back to the drawing board...
Way out of the box thinking I guess, but it still may inspire other projects or to build something different that would *actually* work  :P

Happy fishing!

I get annoyed when a seat strap or paddle leash is making a wake.

Don,

The tubes in the scuppers would just keep the outrigger from rotating, they are thinner than the hole so they would generally not be touching the scupper walls. Also I think the B, C and D tubes would be the ones making contact with the hull and therefore "rocking" everything at the same time and keeping the scupper tubes parallel to the scupper holes... Also wrapping noodles on the structure would help it conform to the hull better IMO. I'll have to build and test for final results but i think the idea has some potential  ;D

Happy fishing!

If it didn't conform tightly to the hull it would put major (and constant) strain on those scuppers, no?

I've had this idea for a while as it doesn't put any stress on rod holders and doesn't require any bolting/holes:

Thanks Laurentian,  They worked better than I would have thought.  I was actually paddling around a bit.  the pull rope really helps with getting up and down.  I imagine if I do a lot of standing I will eventually take a dive :P.  I did try some casting and it was doable.  I plan to catch at least one fish standing this year.  Will need to backoff on the hooksets a little I think.  Time will tell 8)

   To Dave...

Nice job of recycling...they came out very good!

Question: In the last picture, you're standing hanging on to that pull rope...

and 'keeping your balance' with your paddle. You're smiling, but

you look slightly ill-at-ease  ;D. I felt exactly the same way when

               I tried mine  ??? . Do you expect you'll be able to stand/fish???  ;)

All the talk of outriggers got me thinking, so when I saw some scrap aluminum at Goodwill today I decided to try some recycling, I'm happy with the results.  Light, strong, and compact and only spent $8.  Just some cutting and drilling and some screws and rodholders that I already had. Still need to find some floats for it.  Ended up with enough material for another set and thinking of a camera mount as well.  Gave me something to work on today,
(hope it works) :-X  Might even try it once or twice

Well, I never even tried those outriggers last year.  But I got them out on the Grand today and was impressed how easy they were to store and deploy and how well they worked.  One more thing to bring to the tournies this summer!
