I'd try the Coosa seat BoKnows... take it from another guy with a bad lower back, it's a saviour.  And if you can get that comfort without the headache of taking a loss on your older Hobie hull, it's well worth it.

The coosa seat is priced quite reasonably - $109 usd.

Seen many Hobies with a Jackson Elite Seat upgrade online. More popular then ya think. Love my Coosa seat, no back pain or knees etc...
Safety first for all those using 2x4 to raise seat... And wear survival suit this time of year so you're easier to find if you fall out.

Well if you build a 2x4 platform you could fit any seat .. lol. I'm trying for a more elegant/simple solution.

I have the Ultimate seat that I bought from Fishbait and it's not a good fit. It's too wide for the Outback. You could probably do something with the plastic base but it's definitely not a drop in solution.
James, you need to cut the proper size and used 2 Pcs 2x4 to support the plastic base.
Make that plastic base the same level with the gunnel from the outback.

I don't have the Outback, but saw the picture from Don, where used Coosa seat,
so is look like the seat from Native with the plastic base can be used and install on the Outback. and put some 2x4 in the middle to support the base of the seat.
That is my opinion,

From what I understand the new CT Vantage Seat will not work with the older Outbacks which is a shame. I'm working on a diy using a camping chair but I'm in the early stages of development .. lol. It will be my winter project but if all goes well I'll post something in the future.

I know the PA seat will not work as the front leg stance is way too wide plus haven't seen anyone on the Hobie forums actually do this.    As far as the new seats for the 2015 s can't say cause Hobie is just starting to ship the 2015.   The new seats acording to hobie cannot be retrofitted into the older outbacks as they have changed the mold.
