Picked mine up at Bass Pro in TO...$14...not sold on the integrated little LED.
Much better than the Frabil ones.

Item Name: The Snip
Manufacturer: Boomerang Tool Company
Price:12.98 US on their website (bought a pack of two for 20.00+shipping (6$) on ebay)

I had read about The Snip on another website and thought that the gadget looked practical and sturdy enough to give it a try. I was also still looking for a tool that easily handled with one hand and cuts easily through braided line.

So I decided to go on ebay and order two of them. There is a model with a led lighting and a basic model without. Personnaly I thought the led was just a gadget so I bought the basic one. I have read though that the battery in the one with a led is easily changed (good thing).

At first look, I was very pleased. The item looks nice and feels pretty nice in hand. It is mostly made of plastic, but the plastic is very sturdy and the entire gadget looks well built. The blades lock easily and unlocks easily with one hand.

Now, the cutting test... Amazing! Without putting any tension in 20 lb braided line the snip makes a very very clean cut easily (read of people cutting 65 lb no problem)!! Very smooth! I also tried it on 10 lb fluorocarbon and it worked just as well!! The tool is retractable with a metal ring and the cord is made of kevlar.

Pros:
- Attaches to gear
- Handles with one hand
- Cisors cut through 20 lb braid no problem
- sturdy
- awesome price for the quality

Cons:
- bigger than other cuting tools...

Final thoughts:
For the price, this tool is a must I think!! Looks very neat and will be very very useful while kayak fishing and fly fishing or just any kind of fishing! Definately a recommended buy! Look on ebay for good deals... One on the fly vest, on the life vest and one on the yakpak! hehe

looks pretty impressive.. Just love the way you mentioned each detail.. I am looking to get it now

Yep, goes through 8 lb like a hot knife in butter.

The only question remains how will it hold with time and use? Reviews I've read say this is not a problem and the aparent quality of the blades suggest that too...

Nice review.  I assume the Snip is equally effective on smaller braid?

Thanks!

I agree on these not entirely replacing scissors...

I just think they are very neat attached to my fly vest! So easy to cut tag ends with one hand! And I have yet to find scissors that cut braid so easily.
