New seat mod. PICS ADDED
« on: June 11, 2017, 10:19:16 PM »
So I priced out the WS Airpro 3D seat, holy mother -575 bucks! Now my arse gets sore after 2 hrs or so but not that sore to pay half as much as my yak so, I did the next best thing and ordered a fs128t seat from BP for $115.  It took me exactly 40 minutes to measure and cut it to size and attach the straps.

I would post pics but photobucket won't let me register. Search IG #willitwork for all the pics.

MoneyMike, yes that is true in the good ol American dollar! Here its 424 plus taxes and shipping or waiting for it to come in on the next truck (Outdoors Oriented), so I was off 75 bucks.
Anyways, I also cannot justify spending $395.50 plus, on a seat that costs half as much as my rig.

was thinking of this as an option.  I was going to do the Jackson elite seat but they're super hard to find and when you do find them, people want $200-300 for them even if they're old.

There's a good DIY on a Hobie Outback too.  Looks like an older outback though so I'm not sure how similar the 2012, 2013, 2014 etc are to the one in the video?

At $70, shipping included, this Browning turkey hunting chair works perfectly in my Outback without any alterations at all and I now use it regularly. I don't use it in rough water or for long distances but it's great for just lollygaggin' around fishing. Thanks to Dips for the original suggestion.

can you remind me again...do you have a thread about that?  And what is your height weight?  I'm 6'5" 235 so what is comfortable for some people might not work for me is all

thanks

There is a thread from last summer. I'm 6' 1", 208 so it should work for you. I'll have it at the bcc if you want to see it.

Not much installation required, Vee. Just set it on the boat and tie it down using the attach points already there. After using mine a couple of times I installed an inchworm on each side of the seat to make tying it down easier and faster but it's not necessary.

Don's right.  It is a pretty easy install and a very good fit.  I tried it in James' Outback and even for my size it was a comfortable seat.  Definitely a good upgrade from the original seat

The popularity of that turkey chair from the kayak community is driving the price up. When I bought mine it was $50.  :o

I wasn't comfortable with the positioning of the chair and decided to go a different route and installed a Jackson Elite 3.0 chair instead.
